March Decorations

All month I was telling Rog that St. Patrick's Day is the loneliest holiday. The stores just don't have as much stuff for St. Patrick's Day as they do for other holidays.

As I mentioned in my birthday post, I couldn't find St. Patrick's Day plates that would work anywhere. I actually found quite a few that were too small, but none that were the right size. So I made these at Color Me Mine. They actually messed one of them up. After trying to fix it about 3 times, they said they were sorry and gave me a gift card for $20 so I could make a new one. But I decided it actually wasn't that bad - you can only see that it is messed up if you're looking from the right angle. So I am saving my gift card to make something else later.

I found the Irish Pub sign at Tai Pan.

Wood Connection actually had a lot of St. Patrick's Day stuff. Bless them. They had a contest on their blog that I entered and I actually thought I had a pretty good chance because they said they like to see you take what they sell and make it your own. I added the "i'm irish!" part which I thought was pretty original, but I didn't win. Oh well. I don't need their approval.

The complete table.

Happy March!

GRRR!

The pictures should now be up from my last post. I had to do it the old fashioned way because Picasa still isn't working. I've tried to fix it like 500 times since I originally did that post Sunday night with no success. You can't click on them, but at least they are there.

Is anyone else having problems with Picasa's "Blog This!" button or is it just me?

Recently

This is going to be one of those random posts... There you've been warned.
A few weeks ago Rog got called to be the Ward Mission Leader. This is the 3rd time he's had that calling. He had it when we were dating in our single's ward, when we were first married in our student ward, and now in our family ward. He loves missionary work, so it is a good calling for him.
Last weekend Rog's cousin, Kyle, got married in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Tay and Martha came down from Rexburg and stayed with us. It was fun to have visitors for a few days. Rog's mom came from Colorado and stayed with KD and Phat Tony. So we didn't see as much of her, but we did enjoy spending the time we did with her.
Saturday morning they had a breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. Rog and I were focused
on feeding Corby, so our food was a little cold by the time we got to it. But it was still pretty delish. Stacey watched Corbyn for us while we went to the actual sealing that afternoon. We were nervous he wouldn't do very well because we haven't left him with anyone other than family. But she said he was great! At the reception that evening Corbyn tried strawberries,
grapes, and pineapple for the first time. He made quite a mess of himself, his dad's white shirt, and KD's sweater! But he seemed to really enjoy himself.
After the reception we went to the Carl Bloch exhibit at the Museum of Art at BYU. It was pretty dang cool! It's visiting until May 7th, so if you get a chance, go check it out.
This picture has nothing to do with anything, but it was taken that weekend and I thought it was a cute one of me and my little buddy.
Corby's new favorite room is our downstairs bathroom. It was quiet for a few minutes and this is how we found him. I feel like every baby has to have a picture like this.
We have decided to sell our scooter, Cliff. We got him when we were first married and he has been a great addition to our family. I have many fond memories riding on him to APX, around campus, and to football games and a few not so fond memories when we rode him in the FREEZING cold. He saved us so much money on gas and was perfect for campus life.
But now that Rog works too far away to take him and he's not exactly built for a baby, we thought we should pass him on to someone who could get more use out of him. We've listed him on KSL and Craigslist, but I thought I would mention it on here. He's a Kymco Agility 50cc scooter with 9,000 km on him. We bought him new and have kept up on all the scheduled maintenance. Let me know if you or anyone you know might be interested.
I finished Catching Fire and Mockingjay in the Hunger Games series. I really liked the whole series. Mockingjay was my least favorite of the 3, but I still liked it.
{Spoiler alert.} I was so happy Katniss ended up with Peeta. And that Peeta was able to overcome being Hijacked. Oh and very happy that they had children. Catching Fire andMockingjay really made me sad for the victors. I mean they worked so hard to win the games, but then their lives are pretty much destroyed. I felt like Katniss couldn't have been happy with Gale because he didn't understand what it was like to be a victor. But Rog and I both agree there should have been some sort of closure between Gale and Katniss. And heavens, why did Prim have to die? That was the whole reason Katniss volunteered - so she wouldn't have to die! And I don't believe that Katniss would have actually voted for there to be one last Hunger Games. I was really surprised by that. But overall, a great series!
So that means I'm halfway done with my goal to read 6 books this year! I have no idea what to read now. Suggestions are welcome!

Meet BOB

It's been a little cold this week, but I bundled up Corbyn and we've had a good time with our new friend BOB.

Worth Every Penny!

After we got our water softener we wanted to get rid of the hard water left on all of our dishes. Emily told me about Lemi Shine. As you can see it was worth every penny.
FYI: I found it at Macey's for much cheaper than you can buy it on Amazon.

Swinging and Laughing

Our townhome community has quite a few little parks. Not too far from us is a nice set of swings. Corby loves when we take him swinging!

A few weekends ago we attended Elise's baby blessing up in Sandy. They had a nice luncheon at Emily's parent's house after. They had a swing set, so while we waited for the food to be ready we took Corby out for a nice swing.

I can't wait for it to be warm, so we can go to the park everyday. But for now, we'll take what warm days we can get!
I put together a little video of clips of Corby laughing. He used to only laugh when we tickled him, but now he laughs all the time. I think baby laughs are the happiest sound in the world. Enjoy!

9 Months

Corbyn was again sick for his birthday, but this month he was getting over it rather than just getting it. On Monday night around midnight, he woke up screaming his head off. Usually we just let him cry it out, but this time I went in to check on him. He was burning up, so we took his temperature - 102.5! That's the highest it has ever been, so we called the on-call doctor. He said to put him in a lukewarm tub for 30 minutes to bring it down and take him to his doctor in the morning if he still had a fever.
In the morning it was 103! He had no outward symptoms, so I was especially worried. The doctor said his ears were fine, but his throat was very sore. Apparently some viruses can cause just a sore throat and a fever. We alternated giving him Advil and Tylenol all day Tuesday and Wednesday, but he still had a slight fever even with the medicine bringing it down. Wednesday night we had the EQ President and Secretary come help Rog give him a blessing. Thursday (his 9 month birthday) his fever was gone and the doctor found that his throat was not sore anymore at his well visit. He wasn't his normal happy playful self and he had a slight fever again that night. But by Friday he seemed much better and his fever hasn't returned.
He has been sick about once a month since his 6 month appointment. His doctor said that is normal for his age during the winter months and he should stop getting sick so much now that it is warming up. I really hope that is the case because I don't know if I can take another sickness anytime soon!
His stats:
Weight: 18 pounds, 7 ounces (20th percentile)
Height: 28 1/2 inches (60th percentile)
He's way skinny, but he has gained some weight since his 6 month visit. And his doctor said he should start gaining weight faster now that he won't be getting sick so much (fingers crossed) and as he eats more and more table food.
The Corb at 9 months:
*Discovered his tongue - sticks it out a lot.
*Loves to open and close doors, cabinets, drawers, etc...
*Now shakes his head "no" rather than like a bobble head.
*Loves to swing. I have the cutest video of him just laughing his head off while I swing him that I've been meaning to post.
*Has learned that he doesn't have to swallow all the food I put in his mouth, so he'll spit it out if he doesn't like it. He loves fruit, but doesn't like vegetables or cereal (rice, oatmeal, barley). We just started giving him the Gerber puffs and he seems to love those.
*Has been working on his two bottom middle teeth for the past week and a half. We can see two white bumps in his gums, but they haven't popped out yet.
*Puts every crumb he can find in his mouth.
*Just started letting go of things and standing on his own for a few seconds before he gets scared or falls down.

He's growing up so fast! Sigh. Before I know it I'll be posting about his 1st birthday! We sure love our little dude!

Bday Celebration and a Bball Game

Last Friday night we celebrated my birthday with the Pughs. We got Chili's to go and watched/listened to the BYU basketball game at the Pugh's apartment. They didn't have the station the game was on, but we found it online and hooked up their laptop to the tv. It would freeze a lot, so we were also listening to it on the radio. It wasn't the best watching situation, but the game was AMAZING! Jimmer scored 52 points and broke all kinds of records.
Emily made me a skookie for my cake. MMMM! I love skookies!
Thanks for a great night Pughs!

Daddy's Little Helper

For Rog's birthday he got a bookshelf. Corbyn helped him put it together.

That was a few weeks ago. On Monday we finally got it hung! It's pretty empty now, but we'll fill it up as we go. And I have plans for decorations to go on top.

Quarter of a Century

Last Saturday I turned 25. The big quarter of a century birthday! YIKES! My parents came up for the weekend. We had a great time celebrating with them!
On Friday night they took us to the Pizza Factory. We discovered that Corby loves ice!
I got my 25 pizza, but not without some work. Our waitress was pretty awful. Our conversation went something like this:
Rog: It's her birthday.
Waitress: Oh we're kind of lame for birthdays. You can get a sucker or a cookie on your way out.
Me: So you can't get your age in a pizza?
Waitress: You can.
Me: So does it cost anything?
Waitress: No
Me: Ok, then I'll do that...
A little puzzling. But at least I got my pizza!
Then we went back to our house and had a birthday cake from Macey's that I had to order myself. That conversation was pretty good too.
Bakery employee: So how old is this person?
Me: Turning 25
Bakery employee: And is it a boy or a girl?
Me: A girl
Bakery employee: Is it you?
Me: Ummm... Yeah...
Way to make me feel like an idiot! But whatever, I got just what I wanted and I didn't have to cook it myself. :)
We finished off the night with Ticket to Ride.
On Saturday we went to Kneaders for breakfast. Corby really wanted some of our french toast.
Love this picture of our family. What a goof!
Then my mom watched Corby while Rog and I went to Color Me Mine.
I haven't been able to find St. Patrick's Day plates anywhere, so I decided to make my own.
And Rog made a Y plate. I can't wait to see how they turned out. We're going to pick them up in a few hours.
Then we drove up north for dinner. On the way we stopped at Wood Connection - my favorite place ever! I got some really cute stuff that I can't wait to paint! Even Corby had a good time.
We had a few minutes to kill, so we went to Foot Locker to get me some new running shoes. We found the same ones I had on sale for $50. They've been good ones, so why not! When I went to pay for them they turned out to be only $30! Even better!
We had dinner at Olive Garden with the Ririe side of my family. My uncle Kevin's birthday is the day before mine, so we also celebrated his birthday and Jared's too.
Love Corby's eyes in this one!
After dinner we went up to the Ford's house for some lemon cream cheese pie and presents. Corby helped with the unwrapping.
I got some glitter (pictured below), a Cricut cartridge, an iTrip, a tv for my craft room, and money for a running stroller. I ordered it from REI today and we should be able to pick it up next Saturday. I can't wait to be able to run during the day and I think Corbyn will like it too.
Corby told Rog to get me a gift card to Down East Basics for $1 Billion. I'm really excited to use it because I rarely buy myself new clothes.
I couldn't have asked for a better birthday weekend. We were all healthy and feeling good and I got to spend it doing fun stuff with my favorite people!
