Five on Friday

1. Sunday night for dinner I made spaghetti. For the sauce I used 2 cans of organic crushed tomatoes that I had purchased because they were on sale for cheaper than the regular ones, thinking it would taste the same - boy was I wrong! The sauce makes enough for about 3 meals, so I always freeze 2/3 of it (divided between 2 containers) for future use. Rog thought it was so gross that he made me throw them out. Peyton could not get enough of it though.

2. I tried a new recipe for dinner Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. Our favorite was Creamy Tuscan Pasta, but with slight alterations the Black Bean and Mango Quesadillas and Honey Sesame Chicken might be keepers as well.

3. I finished my 3rd book of the year - F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. It was my favorite book in high school and with the movie coming out May 10th, I thought I'd read it again. I think Leonardo DiCaprio is perfect for the role of Jay Gatsby and can't wait to see it!

4. Last night on a very quick, but wonderfully kid-free trip to Costco, I bought these Mango Granola Bites thinking they might make a good snack for the kids. The package says they are soft, chewy, and delicious - it doesn't lie! The kids will be lucky if I share with them!

5. I've been working on weaning Peyton and switching her to milk this week. I was hoping it would go more smoothly than it did with Corbyn, but she is just as resistant to the idea as he was. (It doesn't help that she's getting over a cold Corbyn so kindly gave her for her birthday.) I've tried everything -  different kinds of cups, mixing in Nesquik, heating it up... With Corbyn I could easily mix it with formula, gradually decreasing the amount I mixed in until it was all milk. And I suppose I could do the same thing with breastmilk, but the thought of getting out the pump makes me want to vomit. (I spent way too much time pumping for Corbyn!) So she's just going to have to get used to it!

{This picture is totally unrelated, but I had to post it. Isn't she the cutest in her big girl nightgown?!}

I have never read The Great Gatsby! It's on my reading list for sure. Obviously, I hear great things about it! I'm excited to see the movie to...in months when it finally comes to redbox ;)

I'm sorry that Peyton is so resistant to milk! That must be so frustrating! I have no advice...never had to deal with this!
