Glenwood Springs

A few weeks ago we went to Glenwood Springs with my family. It was a good place to meet about halfway between Spanish Fork and Aurora and it was fun to explore somewhere we'd never been before. Jared was able to take a few days off from his internship in Oregon, so he and Cailey could come. And that meant the whole Kent Ririe family was together!

The first night we were there I hiked to Hanging Lake with my dad, Jason, and Diana. This was the highlight of the trip for me. It was short (1.2 miles each way), but incredibly steep. I had been planning on carrying Logan, but we decided to be quick, so I could leave him with Rog. (A good choice because it would have been much more difficult with an 18 pound baby strapped to me.) The trail was beautiful and the view at the top was absolutely breathtaking!

On Sunday we went to church in the morning and then had a low-key day.

^ Doesn't get any better than hanging out with your cousin eating Cheetos.

Rog entertained the medium-size kids most of the day. He took them on a scooter ride...

And then to the park with Papa George.

That evening we went on a family walk down to the river.

^ Me and my mom and the babies.

^ Logan kept trying to eat Skyler - even though he is 9 months younger, he already outweighs her!

On Monday we went to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. You take a tram up to the top of the mountain where you find a mini amusement park with everything from thrill rides to cave tours. (Think Park City Mountain Resort, but bigger.) We bought all-day passes, so we could ride whatever we wanted all day long. The alpine coaster was a universal favorite for nearly everyone.

Laser Tag was a favorite for these three.

Logan was a trooper and was happy despite spending most of the day in the stroller.

Everywhere you looked there were beautiful views.

^ We just got these awesome shirts from Stately Type that were pretty perfect for the occasion.

We took a little break in the afternoon to go swimming in our hotel pool.

Logan took a nap in the shade after his swim.

We finished off the night back at the adventure park for a few more rides and many more rounds of Laser Tag for the kids.

Tuesday morning I went for a run in the rain and then met a little girl named Shauna (but spelled Chaunah or something like that) while eating breakfast. I ended up talking to her parents for a long time which is completely out of character for me (but I couldn't resist striking up a conversation because I don't think I've ever met someone my age or younger with my same name). After that we packed up and headed to Aurora to finish our week with the Phillips family.

(To be continued...)
