37 Weeks

I had my 37 week appointment this morning, so I thought I'd give a quick update. Peyton is still breech. (I figured she would be since there isn't that much room for her to move around anymore.) I am still 1 cm dialated. I weigh the same as I did last week. (Actually I haven't gained any weight in quite a few weeks. I asked the doctor about this and he said I have gained enough this pregnancy, so he isn't worried.) The heartbeat is still good and strong. In short, nothing has changed in the last week.

So here's the plan: Next Monday (April 23rd) I will go into the hospital for an External Cephalic Version. If that works, then I'll come back on Thursday (April 26th) or Friday (April 27th) to be induced. If it doesn't work, I'll come back the following Monday (April 30th). They'll try the version again. If it works, they'll induce me right then and if it doesn't work, they'll do a c-section. So I'm pretty much guaranteed to have a baby in the next 2 weeks.

Statistically speaking, the version works a little over half of the time. It has a better chance of working on subsequent pregnancies than it does on first pregnancies. (Because the uterus is stretched out - And my guess is Corbyn did a pretty good job stretching it out.) Dr. Thorpe (who I saw today) said that Dr. Dayton would be doing the version and that he is the best at doing them in their office. And he said that Peyton doesn't seem to be overly large. So I think I've got a pretty good chance of it working. Unfortunately even if it does work, there is a chance that she will move back after the procedure.

I watched a few videos of versions on YouTube and while it doesn't look that bad, it doesn't look all that pleasant either. I don't want to have a c-section if I can avoid it, so I figure I should give it a try. Lots of people have told me that c-sections aren't that bad, but I would rather go with what I know and that is a regular vaginal birth. I really don't want to have to deal with the issue of VBAC (Vaginal Birth after C-Section) and I really really don't want to have to have a c-section on every baby after this one. All that being said, if I do have to have a c-section, I'll just be grateful to have my little girl here!

I was able to get a lot done on the nursery this weekend and my to do list is steadily shrinking. I still have plenty to do to keep me busy, but I'm feeling more and more ready for her to come.

My major accomplishment for the weekend was finishing up her quilt. The quilt shop called me to say it was finished on Friday afternoon, so I went right over to pick it up. I made the binding and attached it to the front Saturday night. And then Sunday afternoon I hand sewed the binding to the back. I'm glad to have that project out of the way and I love how it turned out!

I am having the hardest time finding a cushion for the rocking chair!

Five on Friday

1. I finally reached the free photo storage limit for my blog while I was doing my Easter post last night. I knew that would eventually happen, so I wasn't too surprised. I decided just to suck it up and pay the $5 for more storage, so lucky for my readers, nothing will change.

2. I got a TON of cute clothes for Peyton at my shower on Wednesday night. Of course 90% of them are size 0-3 months and of course that is the size I have the most of. I love them all and was having a hard time deciding which ones to keep and which ones to return. Then I realized I could just exchange them for the same thing in a different size. So that's what I'm going to do. I sorted them by store and after visiting Target yesterday afternoon, I have one store down and six more to go!

3. I finally finished the curtains for the nursery this week. They started out as a shower curtain (a lot of the stuff in the room is from the bathroom section at Target), so I cut, hemmed, and added loops at the top to make curtains. It was a little more work than I anticipated because the curtain was definitely not square to begin with, but I love how they turned out. Sorry for the quality of the picture - it's hard taking a picture of a window in the middle of the day!

4. KD is graduating from the LDS Business College today, so a lot of Roger's family is in town. Unfortunately because of the precautions I was given with Peyton being breech I didn't feel like I should venture all the way up to Salt Lake - far away from my hospital where I am preregistered and my doctors. So Corby and I are staying here while Rog attends the graduation. I'm sad to be missing out. Hopefully they will venture a little closer to Provo tomorrow, so I can see them all!

5. I think Corbyn is realizing that something is happening. He's too young to really understand, but he has been giving some clues that indicate he knows something is going to change and soon. Clue 1 - He has been a lot more clingy to me lately. Clue 2 - Peyton's room is one of his favorite places to play. The other day when we were in there we told him to kiss the baby. He went right up to the crib and started giving it kisses. I just hope he'll adjust quickly when she actually does come!

Easter

It was fun having a little toddler to celebrate Easter with this year! On Saturday morning we took Corbyn to the Spanish Fork Easter Egg Hunt. It had snowed on Friday and it hadn't melted yet, so he got to hunt in the snow.

He probably would have enjoyed it more without the snow, but I think he had fun nonetheless.

It started right at 9:00 and lasted all of 10 minutes. It was pretty sad watching all the families who were late walking up as we walked back to our car. Note to self for future years: Don't be late!

On Saturday night I played the Easter bunny while Rog took a practice GMAT test.

I set out our baskets. Corby got some puzzles, a buzz PEZ dispenser, the Little Critter Shapes book, and a buzz that fits into a spaceship.

Rog got a new electric razor. His old one that he got before his mission wasn't cutting it anymore (no pun intended), so we decided it was time to get a new one.

And I got some new nursing-friendly pajamas.

I also filled some eggs and hid them in Corby-friendly spots. And in the meantime I was making the most delicious carrot cake for our Easter dinner.

Sunday morning Corby had his breakfast and then we took him into the living room to see his basket and collect his eggs. He was pretty excited about everything he got and he LOVED hunting for the eggs when he discovered there was jelly beans in them.

He was totally styling in his new Easter outfit.

After church and Corbyn's nap, we headed up to my Grandma Ford's for Easter dinner. My Aunt Tracy was there and KD also joined us because Phat Tony was in Colorado helping Roger's parents move into their new house. We had a fun egg hunt, a delicious dinner, and as always my grandma spoiled us with Easter baskets filled to the brim with candy. Peyton even got a few things.

I'd say our Easter was a success!

36 Weeks

Yes, my shirt kind of hides the bump - I guess you'll have to use your imagination a little bit!

I had my 36 week appointment yesterday and unfortunately I got some bad news - baby girl Peyton is breech. She was head down when I had my 28 week ultrasound, so sometime between then and now she decided to flip flop. This of course means that unless she turns back down (either on her own or during the version scheduled for 2 weeks from yesterday), I'll have to have a C-Section. Major bummer - especially because I was so looking forward to her just slipping out after 10 pound Corbyn paved the way!

In addition to having to have a C-Section if she remains breech, there are some added risks for breech babies. I was given strict orders to go immediately to the hospital if my water breaks because of the increased risk of a prolapsed cord. And I was also told to really monitor her movement and go to the hospital if after some frantic movement I don't feel anything for a few minutes. I know a few mothers who have lost their babies very late in pregnancy (at 36 weeks and 41 weeks) due to cord accidents, so of course I am very paranoid. I wish they could just do a C-Section now, so I could have my baby girl here safe and sound and not have to worry anymore.

Other than her being breech, everything else looked good at my appointment. I am 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced (which doesn't really matter if I do have to have a C-Section). I'm feeling a lot better than I did at this point in my pregnancy with Corbyn. I'm pretty sure she is a lot smaller than Corbyn just based on how much more comfortable I am this time (and the doctor agreed based on him feeling her - although the same doctor told us Corbyn was probably 8 or 8 1/2 pounds the day before he was born). I also haven't really had any swelling and I don't wake up in the morning with numb fingers. I still have a few weeks, but hopefully I won't have to deal with those lovely things this time around.

A few of my friends in my ward are throwing me a baby shower tomorrow which I am very excited for! I still have a few things to buy for Peyton, but I have been holding off to see if I get them at my shower (small things like diapers, socks, burp cloths, etc). The nursery is coming along. I've come to the realization that it most likely won't be 100% done when she comes, but hopefully I'll be able to get it pretty close.

We can't wait to meet our little girl - however and whenever she gets here - as long as she is safe and sound!

Five on Friday

1. I am now 36 weeks which means only 3 weeks until Peyton will be here!

2. On Wednesday I got a surprise package with the crib skirt I was wanting in it. It didn't have a name on it, but I have a pretty good idea who sent it to me. I have thanked that person, but if I was wrong and it was you who sent it to me, THANK YOU! It really brightens up the room and I love it!

3. This year I can't get enough of Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. I have always thought they are much better than the original Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, but most years I am able to resist them better than this year. Good thing Easter is on Sunday and after that, they won't be in the store to tempt me!

4. Yesterday I finished these owls for Peyton's room. I love how they turned out!

5. Tonight we are finally going to see the Hunger Games - I can't wait!

*I have to admit, I didn't come up with these Friday post ideas on my own. My friend, Jana, does Friday Letters and my friend, Rachel, does Five on Friday. I hope they don't mind me stealing their ideas! Some Fridays I will do Friday Letters, some I will do Five on Friday, and some I won't do either - just depends on the week.

Conference Weekend

We had a wonderful conference weekend full of...

*Sword fights and lots of play time with daddy. (Rog did a great job keeping the little guy entertained during the morning sessions. And then Corby took great naps during the afternoon sessions.)

*Projects - I put together this vinyl quote for the nursery.

And Rog painted the rocking chair.

*Bow making.

*Waffle breakfasting with the Riries.

*Trying out new recipes.

Lemon Monkey Bread. I probably should have let them rise a little longer and I forgot about the glaze until after we started eating them, but they were still oh so delicious!

Asian BBQ Chicken with Lime-Cilantro Rice with Pineapple on the side. We did 2 large chicken breasts instead of 8 chicken thighs and we had plenty left over to make Asian BBQ Chicken Pizza for dinner last night. All of it was so good. If you make the pizza (which you really should), make sure you grill it and add the marinade to the sauce - Rog wasn't sure about that part, but we both agree it totally made the pizza!

Savory Spiral Stuffed Rolls. Another keeper. It made a TON, so next time I'm going to make the full dough recipe, but use half of it for these rolls and make the rest into regular rolls.

Funfetti Cake Batter Buddies. I actually made these last week when I was taking dinner to 2 families in our ward and didn't have an oven, but they were too good not to mention. They will change your life. Literally.

*And of course spiritual feasting. Conference was great as usual. I can't wait to get the Ensign and really study all the talks!

Loving Corbyn's new spring/summer clothes!

Dear Oven,

Why did you have to go and break on us? It was kind of a bad week for that as I was taking dinner to 2 families one of the nights you were broken. Fortunately Bill and Mariah let us use their oven while we were waiting for the repairman to come 3 days later. We are now $140 poorer and I have a new found appreciation for being able to cook dinner in my own kitchen. I hope you're happy.

Dear Peyton,

I got all your bedding this week as well as your changing pad and changing pad cover. Well, all your bedding except this crib skirt because it is "currently unavailable" on Amazon. I did find it here, but I couldn't justify paying that much plus $8.20 for shipping when the crib we got you came with a white crib skirt. I think it would have matched your quilt really well, but we will just have to live with the white. Anyway, all the stuff I did get is up washing right now and then I will put it in your nursery and we will be one step closer to being ready for you to come. I can't believe you will be here in 4 weeks (or less if you decide to come sooner). I love you already!

Nursery Progress

I feel like we were actually able to make some good progress on the nursery this weekend. We had a very busy, but productive Saturday.

I ran about a million errands. A few in Spanish Fork in the morning. The bank and a few grocery stores to stock up on some good deals they had going on for the weekend only. Then I finally found a good place to buy vinyl now that Robert's is gone. There is a little store called Signs and Wonders in Spanish Fork that sells a good variety of colors at a good price where I was able to get the rest of the vinyl I need for the nursery.

Then in the afternoon I headed up to Provo/Orem to get some clothes - mostly for Corbyn (his Easter outfit, swimsuit, sandals, etc). I had a coupon for 30% off at Kohl's + a coupon for $10 off a $25 purchase on kid's clothes. (Have I ever mentioned how much I love Kohl's? I don't know how they stay in business with all the sales and coupons they always have going on, but I'll take it!)

My favorite buy for the day...

How cute is that?! Can't wait until I can dress my two kids in their matching shirts!

I also looked for some maternity shorts, but I had no luck! I thought I'd be able to make it through this pregnancy with only maternity jeans, but it seems spring has come early. When I was pregnant with Corbyn I was able to borrow some of the most perfect shorts from my SIL Edda, but this time she couldn't find them in her stash when I went to borrow them. :(

While I was running all my errands, Rog was painting up a storm in our garage. The crib needed more work than we had anticipated, but he did a great job making it look brand new!

He still has to paint our rocking chair - a project for in between conference sessions this coming Saturday, perhaps.

Then on Sunday I was able to finish Peyton's wood letters. I am completely in love with how they turned out.

I still have a lot of projects to get done before Peyton comes, but it feels good to be making progress.

And finally a video that has nothing to do with Peyton's nursery except that it was filmed in there... With the weather warming up, I washed all of Corbyn's new summer clothes and he has started wearing them. This was his first time wearing his new Buzz Pajamas. No surprise, but I think he loves them!

Thank you for staying open until 8 pm and not charging the urgent care rate. We've never had to use that before, but we were sure grateful for it on Wednesday night when Corby had his first ear infection.

Dear Provo Temple,

In all the years I've been attending you, I don't think I have ever had such a quick visit as the one I had last night. We couldn't find a babysitter this week, so Rog went on the way home from work and then I went after dinner. I got to park on the front row and there was no wait for initiatory. I always love attending the temple, but not having to wait made my visit especially nice. Because my visit was so quick, I had time to stop at Macey's to get a few groceries for dinner group tonight which meant I didn't have to go today with my little boy. That was also nice.

We got your crib and dresser last night from your cute little neighbor Lavi. She graduated to a big girl bed, so she is passing her crib on to you. Dear Corbyn,

You weren't feeling so well earlier this week. A double ear infection will do that to you and it was your first one. Poor little thing! You've wanted me to carry you everywhere which has been kind of sweet, but soon you're going to have a little sister and I won't be able to do that. I know you don't understand what's happening, but soon you are going to be a big brother and I'm sure you'll be a great one!

Dear Rog,

Thanks for noticing that Corby kept rubbing his ears on Wednesday night. I thought he was just being a snot for no reason, but it turns out he had his first ear infection. That's why there's two of us. I couldn't be a parent without you by my side helping me.

21 Months

Our little Corb turned 21 months on St. Patty's Day! It's hard to believe he is only 3 months away from being 2!

The Corb at 21 months:

*Says oh no, me, mine, yes, and banana.

*Hates having his hands messy. For a week or so, he was in the bad habit of wiping his hands off in his hair, on his face, or on his shirt. I guess he figured out that wasn't much better, so he stopped doing that - thank goodness!

*Moos like a cow and occasionally bahs like a sheep, ribbits like a frog, and clucks like a chicken.

*Likes to climb around like a monkey on his changing table (that is still in his room only because that's where we store a lot of his stuff).

*Is doing so well with sacrament meeting and nursery. If we sit up front in the pews, he'll stay in the whole time and just color/play with his toys. And then after sacrament meeting is over he'll go straight to nursery and stay there the whole time without crying. WOOT!

*Answers no to most questions we ask him. Not very helpful when we're asking him if he wants to eat something, etc, but it does make for some cute book reading when the answer is supposed to be no most of the time.

*Sword fights with everything. 100% little boy!

*Loves playing at the park and has no fear of going down the slide by himself and climbing everything!

*Takes a cup of water (with a lid) to bed. I know this probably won't be very good for potty training, but I don't anticipate that being too soon and because we have such a hard time getting him to drink, I don't want to discourage him from drinking when he'll do it!

*Likes to sit in the front seat of our cars and explore/push all the buttons.

*While we are reading to him, he'll touch the little bugs in his books and say ouch like they bit him or something. (I seriously need to get this on video! It is so cute!)

*Will help me pick up toys or clean up.

*Can walk up and down the stairs without holding onto anything.

*Likes to watercolor in the bathtub and color pictures.

*Loves to jump off the curb.

He's definitely our little mover and shaker. Love our little guy!
