I've had the same purse for a LONG time. I'm not quite sure when I bought it, but I know it was in the early days of our marriage. So I'm thinking I've had it about 3 years. Some girls are purse girls - I'm not. This purse was fine - fulfilled all my needs in a purse. But it started looking really shabby and gross. I probably could have made it look a lot better by just throwing it in the washing machine as I've done a few times before....
But that wouldn't have fixed this problem.
So I decided it was high time for a new purse. I was going to buy one, but then I remembered a pattern I printed off and intended to make back in 2009. I pulled it out and went to work looking for the perfect fabric. I was probably supposed to make it out of something more durable than cotton, but I found this fabric and I really liked it.
That was a couple of months ago. I had everything I needed to make it, but I just couldn't find the time to get it done. Finally I gave myself a deadline. I didn't want to take my gross, ugly purse to Texas, so I told myself I had to finish before then! I cut it out before we went down to St. George for the marathon and then I used my mom's machine to sew it during conference.
I love how it turned out!
I couldn't get the little rectangle for the buttons to look right, so I decided to improvise and sew my buttons where the strap meets the bag.
I picked out the fabric to match my wallet and I'm so glad I did. Now if I could just figure out a way to clean my wallet a little. It's getting a little dirty like my old purse!
Yay for finally crossing something off my to do list!
I am impressed that she got it done with all that was going on that weekend at our house.
