Five on Friday

1. Rog has been saying that we should get some bubble bath for the kids for awhile now. I saw a bottle of Jake Bubble Bath while at Walmart, so I decided we'd give it a try. It has made bath time a little more entertaining to say the least!

2. I used some of Peyton's birthday money to buy her a tricycle. She was always wanting to sit on Corbyn's, so I thought she'd enjoy having her own and boy was I right! We've started taking them out whenever we go anywhere close. Corbyn rides his and I push Peyton on hers. She can't reach the pedals yet, but she'll grow into it. And it has made Corbyn a lot more interested in his - he's getting so good at it! (I'll get a picture of our little biker gang soon!)

3. We put away the high chair and moved Peyton to the turtle booster seat this week. She had started trying to escape her high chair and we thought she'd enjoy being at the table with the family. It hasn't made a huge difference, but Rog is happy because he kind of hates the high chair.

4. Today after Peyton's nap, I packed up the kids and made the trip up to the American Fork Wood Connection. (I hadn't been in awhile and was needing my fix.) I grabbed the diaper bag knowing that it only had one diaper. Sure enough both kids needed a diaper change while we were there, so I had to decide who to change. I finally settled on Corbyn because he knew he needed to be changed and would have known and been bothered if I didn't change him. (Can't wait until he's potty trained - we've got him saying that when he turns 3 he'll use the toilet. Fingers crossed he actually will!)

5. Tonight after dinner we went to get our first snow cone of the summer - Peyton's first ever. I think it's safe to say it was love at first bite for her.

13 Months

PJ at 13 months:

*Blows on her food to cool it off.

*Gives Corbyn hugs.

*Pushes things away if she doesn't want them.

*Copies sounds we make.

*Says "uh oh" as she drops something off her high chair. (And then I pick it up and we repeat over and over and over again!)

*Has decided she would rather be picked up and carried down the stairs rather than turning around and going down herself.

*Likes to carry things (like her sippy cup) around under her arm.

*Likes to put lids on containers over and over again.

*Loves to put things around her neck - necklaces, medals, or anything she can pretend is a necklace.

*Usually wakes up around 6:30 am, but will go back to sleep if I put her in bed with us.

*Will try to put her shoes on herself and will bring them to me to put them on, but still loves to take them off.

*Has just made the jump (quite seamlessly) from 2 naps a day to only 1.

Memorial Day Weekend Highlights

*Pizza Pie Cafe. Peyton almost polished off an entire piece of pizza herself after already having some finger food from the salad bar and half my plate of pasta!

*Finally going to Billie Jo Clothing in Provo to order a new swimsuit - I can't wait for it to be done! The one I've been wearing has definitely seen better days.

*First BBQ/picnic of the summer. Peyton was a huge fan of the corn. (She had a little help getting it off the cob.) And Corbyn couldn't get enough of the hot dogs.

*An unplanned visit to the Spanish Fork Splash Pad after playing at the park.

*Ririe Memorial Day Breakfast up Millcreek Canyon. Corbyn was SO SO cute walking across this log. He kept saying, "Careful, careful."

*Visiting my Grandpa Ford's grave.

*Visiting my Grandma Ford and Aunt Tracy.

*$1 Frozen Lemonades at Burger King.

*Visiting my Grandma Joan's grave. This huge ball is right by her grave and helps us find it easily - Corbyn said he was going to push it off.

*A planned visit to the new Pioneer Park Splash Pad in Provo. It was fun, but we decided we like Spanish Fork's better which is convenient because it's a whole lot closer!

Mustachio!

Rog brought home a sticky mustache from work the other day. We all had a little too much fun trying it on!

And yes, that is another scratch under Peyton's eye. And again, I have no good story to tell you. She's just a toddler. It's already pretty much healed after just a few days.

Happy Saturday!

Five on Friday

1. As part of FHE on Monday we went outside to enjoy the beautiful night. Along the way we found a pogo stick that someone had left out. We all had fun taking turns trying it out. (Including Rog and he was the best at it, but I didn't get a picture of him actually doing it.)

2. This week Corbyn entered the superhero phase. A few of his friends (Rhys and Stockton) like to wear superhero capes around the neighborhood. Rog reminded me that someone gave us this cape last year when Peyton was born, so I got it out for him. He loves running around with his fellow superheroes.

3. Rog went to an orthopedic specialist this week about his feet. He determined that Rog is suffering from Metatarsalgia, Plantar Fasciitis, and Achilles Tendonitis. Basically his feet are seriously messed up! He got some heal cups to wear in his shoes and has stretches to do every night. Hopefully he'll feel some improvement soon!

4. When we saw that McDonald's had their new Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie for $1 this week, we couldn't pass up the deal. After we got the kids to bed last night, I went out to get us each one. They were pretty good. Nothing amazing, but definitely worth a dollar!

5. Corbyn has been riding his tricycle a little more lately. He can now do it well enough, but he just doesn't seem to love it. I feel like if he would just practice more and get really good at it, he would like it a whole lot more. I just don't know how to get him to do that. In any case, today Peyton discovered she can climb in the basket on the back. It's her new favorite place to hang out!

5 (+1) Year Anniversary

Since Peyton was born the day before our 5 year anniversary, we didn't get to do anything "big" to celebrate. So we decided to celebrate our 5 (+1) year anniversary in style! We couldn't do it on our actual anniversary because Peyton needed to be weaned first. We planned to celebrate this last weekend which gave me just enough time to get her weaned.

(It was a good thing I had that to push me to do it or I probably would have taken a lot longer with her still refusing to drink much milk. She drinks water and I make sure to feed her a lot of food with calcium. Hopefully someday she'll decide milk isn't that bad after all.)

We drove down to St. George Thursday night. When we got there we let the kids play outside for a few minutes to get the "wiggles" out.

The guys had a little contest going to see who could hit the tree the most times. Grandpa was the undisputed winner.

Friday morning Rog did some genealogy work with his grandparents. They were able to make a lot of progress and get a lot of names ready for the temple.

After lunch we left the kids in the capable and loving hands of grandma (and grandpa) and got on our way to Vegas. The traffic was pretty bad and it seemed to take forever to get to our hotel, but we finally made it! We decided to really splurge and stay at the Mirage.

We walked next door to Caesar's Palace and had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Because it was early we didn't have to wait at all!

Then we got dressed up and headed to the main event - the Beatles LOVE Cirque du Soleil show. We have always wanted to see a Cirque du Soleil show and it did not disappoint! We loved every minute of it!

After the show we walked down to the Bellagio to see the fountains, back to the Mirage to see the volcano erupt, and then called it a night.

In the morning we ate at a restaurant right next to the pool where we had the most filling breakfast of our lives - I didn't eat again until dinner! We relaxed by the pool and got in for a minute, but it was FREEZING, so we didn't stay in long!

It was so nice to have a little getaway without our kids! A huge thank you to Grandma Lori and Papa George for watching them for us!

While we were gone they had a great time exploring a new park...

Eating popsicles...

And swimming in the pool. My mom said after she put Peyton's swim shoes (flip flops) on, she immediately wanted to put her swimsuit on. I think we have a fish on our hands!

Peyton had a great time floating around in the boat with grandma (as did Corbyn).

We gave Corbyn some Benadryl to help with his cat allergy. He ended up taking an almost two hour nap, so when bed time rolled around, he wouldn't stay in bed. We finally gave in and let him stay up with us while we played Ticket to Ride Scandinavia. My dad was on Rog's team and my mom was on my team, but it pretty much ended up just being me versus Rog and I kind of dominated.

Sunday we went to church, visited Rog's grandparents, had dinner, and then headed home. We only made one quick bathroom stop and made it home in record time! It was a great weekend celebrating our anniversary and spending time with family!

Five on Friday

1. I got a new case for my phone. The one I got for Christmas was already cracked in multiple places, so when I saw an Amazon Local deal for a phone case from Printerpix, I couldn't pass it up. I love how it turned out!

2. I finally got gifts sent off for Rachel and Emily's new babies. (I bought the clothes over a month ago!) Rachel had her baby girl this week and Emily will be having her baby boy soon. I made a taggy dinosaur for the boy and attempted a taggy elephant for the girl, but that didn't work out, so she just got a bow.

3. The weather suddenly turned hot hot hot this week, so we got out the pool and water table for the first time this year. The water was freezing, but Peyton didn't seem to mind!

4. Peyton decided this week that she's big enough to feed herself. It's a messy learning process, but I guess it had to happen eventually.

5. Megan solidified her spot as best visiting teacher ever (even though she isn't even my visiting teacher anymore) by bringing over some extra play food she had.
