Flashback Friday - Utah Trip October 2016

When we found out my only girl cousin was getting married, we knew we had to make a trip to Utah for her wedding. It also happened to be Homecoming weekend at BYU, so that worked out well for us. A lot of the details are fuzzy, so I'll just record what I remember.

Like most Utah trips, we left on Friday.

I can't get over how little Logan looks in this picture (all these pictures really).

😍😍😍

We stayed at Tay and Martha's house and they watched our kids/put them to bed for us Friday night while we went to the BYU football game. Before leaving for the game we got to meet baby Ivy (McKae and Anthony's daughter) for the first time.

My Grandpa Ririe let us use his tickets. We beat Mississippi State 28-21 in double overtime. It was a late game and we didn't get back to Tay and Martha's until 1:00 am!

No BYU game would be complete without a Cougar Tail.

Saturday morning we got up early to head back to BYU for the Cougar Run. Peyton was the first to run and she finished 3rd for her age group. She probably could have won, but she was being scared about running by herself and didn't get a good start.

They gave out medals to all the different kid age groups except for the 1-4 year olds. 👎

Logan was next to run and he was not a fan!

Rog ended up picking him up and running with him.

Corbyn and Blake got to run together in the 5-6 age group.

Corbyn didn't win, but did a solid lap around the track.

Finally it was time for the adults to run. My mom missed the sealing (only she and my dad were invited), so she and Cailey could watch the kids while we ran.

I ended up setting a new PR (beating my previous PR of 22:28) and placing 1st in my age group.

They only did medals for the overall adult winners, so I didn't get a medal either. 👎👎

Logan's favorite part of the Cougar Run was seeing these dogs.

After the Cougar Run we visited the Woods. These two friends were so excited to see each other.

We had lunch at Zupas and then let the kids play at the park behind Costco.

No visit to Utah is complete without a trip to the Wood Connection.

We got these 3 Phillips girl cousins together for a picture.

We had dinner at Cafe Rio and then headed to Alisha's reception. Logan played on these stairs most of the night.

How cute are these 4 dancing cousins?!

When I talked to my Grandpa Ririe at the reception and thanked him for letting us use his tickets he asked if we wanted to buy them for the next year because he wouldn't be needing them. It was like he knew he was going to pass away soon and he did 2 weeks later. My uncle and others shared similar stories at his funeral. What a tender mercy it was to be able to see him one last time.

We hardly even saw Alisha at the reception, but we did get a picture of the 3 Ririe girl cousins.

The kids had fun with the sparklers.

On Sunday we went to the Willows Ward sacrament meeting and then all too soon it was time to head home to Oregon!

As all trips to Utah are, it was a quick and busy trip, but a good one!
