This and That...

And everything in between! (A photo dump of all the random events in the past month, so I can get caught up!)

Peyton went to her first birthday party for her friend, Calla. 

We dyed eggs for FHE the day after Easter. (With Easter being so early in the month, we didn't get around to it before.)

And then a few days later the kids decorated eggs with Grandma.

We have a firm no nap policy for both Peyton and Corbyn (because if they do nap, it's impossible to get them to bed). This particular day I tried so hard to wake her up, but she kept falling back asleep standing up!

Rog got the double running stroller out of storage for me. I won't be running with it until Logan is bigger and better at holding up his head, but it's been great for walks. 

Peyton got this princess scooter as an early birthday present from her Grandma Dixie while we were down in St. George with them. She loves it and has had so much fun scooting around the neighborhood on it!

One of those times Logan decided to fall asleep during tummy time...

We had a late snowstorm April 14th and 15th. Speaking of April 15th... Somewhere in here I got our taxes done and we got a huge refund.

One day I left Logan on the couch and came back to find he had somehow gotten this monkey's ear in his mouth and was sucking away happily.

We went up to Salt Lake for the MBA spring picnic at This is the Place Heritage Park. Peyton got to ride a pony and loved petting all the animals they had there.

Corbyn was afraid he'd be allergic to the animals, so he opted to hang out with his friend Rhys instead. These events have been so much more fun this year with the Woods and the Howards being in the MBA program too.

My sister came to visit for a few days, so she could meet Logan. While she was here we rented The Best of Me (I had just finished reading it and couldn't believe how much they changed for the movie!) and saw The Longest Ride (Loved it - probably because I didn't read it!) in the theater. As always, Corbyn and Peyton had the best time playing with Blake and were so sad when he had to go home.

Rog finished his tickets and got his Wood Badge beads. 

We celebrated our 8 year anniversary. We went on a quick date to Zupas for dinner with no kids (not even Logan) the Saturday before. And then on our actual anniversary Rog brought me home these gorgeous daisies and we watched our wedding video after the kids were in bed.

Corbyn graduated from preschool!

He really enjoyed it and I'm already missing the structure it brought to our mornings. Counting down the days until Kindergarten!

I'm sure I'm missing a lot, but this is at least a glimpse into the month of April. Now for Peyton's birthday...

Three

I've been meaning to write this post about my thoughts on the transition from two kids to three kids for a long time, but it's been hard to find any spare time to blog. At first I was so exhausted that the minute we got the kids to bed, I just wanted to go to bed myself (and really I still feel that way most of the time). And then the past few weeks we've had one big event after another - Peyton's birthday, our anniversary, and then Logan's blessing. I'm really hoping to get caught up this week, but I make no promises! 

For our family, overall I'd say the transition from 2 to 3 was easier than the transition from 1 to 2. 

When we had Peyton, Corbyn was too young to understand what was happening and it was really hard on him. I'm glad we had them close because they are such good friends (most of the time), but at the time it was really hard. This time around both Corbyn and Peyton understood and were so excited to have a new baby brother. And now that he's here their excitement hasn't changed. They are always saying how they want to keep him! I don't think either of them has ever been jealous of all the attention I have to give Logan and they love him so much. 

They are old enough that they are pretty self sufficient. They still need me for some things, but they can entertain themselves, help themselves to snacks or water, and go to the bathroom mostly without help (obviously Peyton needs more help than Corbyn). And they are such good helpers! They'll hold him when he's being fussy, try to calm him down when he's crying, and get me diapers, wipes, a burp cloth, or whatever I need for him. 

Corbyn largely ignores Logan. Not in a bad way and I think it's mostly because he's a boy. When he does stop to pay attention to him, he says how cute he is and how much he loves him. (When Peyton was born I was constantly having to stop him from trying to sit on her, so this has been a great improvement for him!) 

Peyton is the one that really really loves him. She likes to give him hugs (that are sometimes a little rough) and still asks to hold him at least a few times a day.

I love to see her motherly instincts kick in already. He's her real baby doll!

One of her favorite things to do is make sure he always has a toy. 

This isn't especially helpful yet, but as he gets bigger and can actually play with the toys she brings him, I'm sure I'll be grateful for it!

The transition hasn't been without any challenges. (I've experienced some serious anxiety and been tired, so tired!) But as far as Corbyn and Peyton go, the transition could not have been any smoother and for that I am so grateful! 

These three (and their dad) are my whole world and I'm so lucky to be their mom!

1 Month

Logan turned 1 month old on April 18th. That first month goes by so quickly!

Logan at 1 month:

*Is usually a pretty content baby unless he is hungry or tired - when he is, he will definitely let you know!

*Loves to hang out on his boppy pillow.

*Likes taking baths. He usually gets really relaxed and calm after we give him one.

*Is starting to coo.

*Is starting to grab things (like my shirt or hair) when I'm holding him.

*Tries to get anything close to his mouth into his mouth. This is by far the cutest thing he does.

*Would definitely be a binky baby if we let him, but sadly for him, we don't believe in binkies!

*Spits up quite a lot.

*Depending on his mood, will either fall asleep or scream until you turn him over when we give him tummy time. 

*Loves his whale blanket.

*Puts up with a lot of rough love from his sister.

Keeping with tradition, I made cupcakes to celebrate. (I'll take any excuse to make cupcakes!)

That night we moved him to his nursery. Corbyn slept worse when we moved him, but Peyton slept better when we moved her, so I didn't know what to expect that first night. He slept about the same as he had been which is definitely better than worse!

The next day we took him to church for the first time. I was really nervous about getting everyone up and ready in time for 9:00 church by myself, but it actually isn't too bad as long as I have everything laid out and ready the night before.

He wore his Easter outfit and tried to eat his shirt pretty much the whole morning!

We just love this little guy!

Easter

The Tuesday before Easter we did Easter pictures at Cheapshots Photography. Rog was at school and my parents were in St. George, so I had my SIL Cailey come help. They don't sell Easter outfits in newborn, so Logan's outfit was kind of huge. But luckily you can't tell in the pictures.

We went down to St. George for the weekend for Rog's grandma's 80th birthday party. We stayed at my grandma's house (that is on the market, but hasn't sold yet) with Rex and Taylor (and their families). It worked out best for Corbyn and Peyton to sleep under the stairs Harry Potter style. They thought it was the best!

The rest of Rog's family stayed at a huge house they rented with lots of fun things to play with like a pool table...

The Easter bunny came Saturday morning.

It was Logan's first Easter (and first holiday). He got a Buzz Itty Bitty and the book, I am Buzz Lightyear. (I don't know what we'll do if he doesn't love Buzz as much as Corbyn did.)

We had an Easter egg hunt with all the cousins.

And the kids spent the rest of the weekend eating the candy from their eggs.

While we were down there we tried out the St. George Waffle Love truck...

And watched some conference.

The big 80th birthday bash was Saturday night. Edda took pictures of all the families there. Our first picture as a family of 5!

We drove home Sunday morning getting home just in time for me to make rolls and carrot cake for Easter dinner with my family.

It was a wild and wonderful weekend! We were glad we could make it down to celebrate Great Grandma Phillips and introduce Logan to the whole Phillips family! 

Logan's Newborn Pictures

I had a friend from my high school cheer days (Amie Hoopes - now Amie Hale) come take Logan's newborn pictures when he was just a week old. She realized when she was halfway here (from Lehi) that she had forgotten her camera and had to go back to get it, so we only ended up having about 30 minutes to take them. Luckily he was a perfect angel the entire time and she got some great ones in a really short amount of time. 

This one is by far my favorite, but I love them all.

The newborn phase is too short. I'm so glad we'll have these pictures to look back and remember newborn Logan! 

I got some of them printed off and hung in his nursery. I also updated his birth announcement with the actual information.
