Corbyn's Birthday and Party

We had Corbyn's party the Friday before his birthday. I am not a Star Wars fan, so throwing a Star Wars party for him was an act of true motherly love.

I needed to make something to replace the chandelier from Peyton's Beauty and the Beast party, so I made this tie fighter out of a paper lantern and foam board that I painted gray. I did not love it like the chandelier, so it came down for the baptism just over a week after his party.

We had a Star Wars carnival with different games where they earned tickets. We gave them each a bag to collect their tickets in and then they took home their prizes in them. (Printable for the bags here.)

Balloon Pop - They got to pop a balloon and keep the tickets that were inside.

Pick a Sucker - They got to pick a sucker. If the bottom had green on it, they got 3 tickets. If the bottom had red on it, they got 1 ticket. (They also got to keep the sucker.)

Bean Bag Toss - The green hole was worth 1 ticket, the purple hole was worth 2 tickets, the blue hole was worth 3 tickets, and the red hole was worth 4 tickets.

I made bean bags in lightsaber colors. (I just used fabric scraps I had from other projects.)

Shoot a Storm Trooper - They got 6 shots and they earned 1 ticket per Storm Trooper they shot down.

Storm Trooper Target Practice - Same thing for this one. Although this one had a huge flaw. They quickly learned that if they shot the green noodle, they would all fall down at the same time.

Squirt Gun Race - The winner of each race got 3 tickets and 2nd place got 1 ticket.

It was technically a drop-off party, but we needed help running the games, so we asked Brenton and Melissa Yates, Erin Martyn, and Lindsey Sullivan to stay and help. We couldn't have done it without them!

We let them play however many games they wanted and then when they were done, we headed inside for concessions. They didn't earn as many tickets as I was thinking they would, so to simplify things, we just had them pay 1 ticket per food item. (I don't have links for most of these food items. I got my ideas from Pinterest.)

Yoda Soda - Sprite with green food coloring.

Jedi Juice - Blue Raspberry Kool-aid.

Cheddar Tie Fighters - Cheese cubes in between crackers (held together by peanut butter). The crackers were supposed to be shaped like hexagons, but I couldn't find any, so I just used square crackers.

Grape Lightsabers - Purple and green grapes on skewers.

Wookie Cookies - Gingerbread cookies poked with a fork before baking.

Dark Side Popcorn - Just regular popcorn with a Storm Trooper picture on the popcorn boxes. (I got the Storm Troopers from here. I also used those pictures for the Shoot a Storm Trooper game.)

They ate their concessions while watching an episode of the Clone Wars.

After that we let them use the rest of their tickets to get prizes. I had picked out a variety of Star Wars party favors and other party favor things in the lightsaber colors from Party City, the Dollar Store, Walmart, and Target. These were worth 5 tickets.

And these were worth 10 tickets.

That part was a bit crazy!

We had made lightsabers out of pool noodles, so we passed those out and let them go crazy in the backyard.

Finally Corbyn opened his presents.

I don't have a picture of everyone who came, but we had Emery and Kinley Martyn, Kingston, Chayse, Beckett, and Hudson Yates, Owen and Logan Sullivan, and Jensen and Claire (our neighbors who I don't know their last names).

At the end Logan must have been exhausted because he passed out with all the craziness going on around him.

Corbyn's actual birthday was on Sunday (Father's Day). He opened his presents first thing. He got Splatoon 2 for the Switch (want).

A new bike (need).

Roller skates (wear).

Scriptures with a case (read).

And of course his bean bag.

He wanted cinnamon rolls for breakfast which may have been influenced by Rog's desire for cinnamon rolls!

For lunch he wanted Star Wars Mac & Cheese.

For dinner he wanted Meatball Sandwiches. For his cake I showed him this BB8 giant cookie and he wanted that. I used Mel's recipe for an Easy Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie and then decorated it like the picture.

It was a hit!
