I've been meaning to do this post since Corbyn's birthday. Yes, over a month ago. The longer I wait, the more ridiculous it seems to do it, but I think it will be fun to look back and remember what things we gave him through the years with this system of gift giving.
Something you want: Toy Story Legos. We thought legos would be fun. We picked the Great Train Chase because he also likes trains.
Something you need: Toy Story Take and Toss Cups and Monkey Hooded Towel. Yeah, we cheated on this one by getting him 2 things. The cups were so cheap and he was in real need of a new towel.
Something to wear: Toy Story Helmet. To go with his Toy Story tricycle he got from his Grandma and Grandpa Ririe (see below).
Something to read: Sandra Boynton's One, Two, Three!. We love Sandra Boynton's books and this is a really cute one. We picked this one primarily because we are trying to teach him to count.
And while I am talking about birthday gifts... Here are a few other gifts I want to remember that I haven't really mentioned before.
Bill and Mariah gave him a box of Teddy Grahams. There's a pretty funny story behind that. A few weeks before Corbyn's birthday, we were over at Bill and Mariah's house and Corbyn found their Toy Story DVD on their bookshelf. He wanted to watch it and he wanted us to leave, so he could watch it with Bill. We came back to check on him and found him sitting with Bill, watching Toy Story, and eating all their Teddy Grahams. Funny kid.
Corbyn's Grandma and Grandpa Phillips got him The Incredibles (and Cars). For a few weeks The Incredibles replaced Toy Story as his favorite movie.
And as I mentioned, Corbyn's Grandma and Grandpa Ririe got him a Toy Story tricycle. He can reach the pedals and he likes when we push him around on it, but he hasn't figured out how to do it on his own yet. It's been too hot for us to practice during the day. I'm pretty sure as it cools down, we'll be out there more and more practicing and I think he'll be able to figure it out pretty quickly.
And finally Peyton had me help her make a Toy Story reusable coloring book for Corbyn. She noticed that we were always printing out coloring pages for him to color and she thought this would be better. I bought Toy Story Mini Coloring Pages, put them together with some double-sided tape, laminated them, and bound them. I did the laminating and binding at Stevenson's Genealogy in Provo - if you do the laminating and binding yourself it is super cheap! To go with the coloring pages, I got him some Crayola Dry Erase Markers that are washable, so they don't stain his hands and clothes like regular dry erase markers would. It has been a great thing to keep him busy!
{If you want to make one for your toddler, they also sell mini coloring pages in Cars, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Princesses.}
He got some fun things!
