The best way to get really busy is to say you have time to keep up on your blog. So much for that! Here's our March (a little or a lot 😬belated)!
March 1st was Logan's 100th day of school (all virtual)! He dressed like an old man and I drew some wrinkles on his face. We tried to put some baby powder in his hair to make it look white, but his hair is already so light, it wasn't very noticeable.
They did a lot of 100 activities including writing all the numbers to 100. Logan did a great job.
I've had to give up my morning bowl of cereal, so now it has become a special treat when I can fit in a bowl.
My parents came for a visit for my birthday. They arrived Thursday night and my birthday was on Friday.
I started my birthday with a 6 mile run.
I had my protein waffles with eggs, veggies, and chicken sausage for breakfast. I had made lemon curd the day before, so that made it a little extra yummy.
Rey's funeral was that morning, so we watched that online. It could have been depressing, but Rey lived such a good life that it was more uplifting than anything else.
After lunch I opened my presents. Shop Disney had a huge sale a few weeks before my birthday, so I ordered a few things for myself.
Want - a Mickey suitcase.
Need - a 12 inch non-stick pan with a lid.
Wear - Patriotic Minnie ears and some Disney shirts.
Read - the D&C journal edition and Don't Miss This stickers.
Those little feet made a pretty cute present.
That afternoon I had some time to quilt and then we got Chipotle for dinner. Raya and the Last Dragon came out that day, so we paid for the premier access and watched that.
I had ordered myself a confetti cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
And finally we played some games after putting the kids to bed.
Saturday morning I went to High and I got to do the birthday High dance.
Then Rog and I went on a lunch date. But first we picked up my free birthday doughnuts from Pip's Doughnuts. There was a long line, but it was worth it.
Then we got lunch at PDX Sliders. I made Black Bean and Sweet Potato Burritos for dinner and then we played some more games after putting the kids to bed.
On Sunday we had dinner at the Hobbs and left my parents there to spend the rest of their visit with them. Axel cuddled up to me for a few minutes.
The next week was Virtual Spirit Week.
Monday - Favorite Character Day. Peyton was Hermione and Logan was Luigi.
He wore his costume from Halloween 2017. It's getting a little small for him. 😂
And Corbyn "dressed up" as Emperor Palpatine.
Tuesday - Mismatched Day.
Peyton went all out with mismatched hair, inside out and backwards shirt, and crazy socks.
Logan wore mismatched stripes.
Corbyn wore his shirt backwards.
And Easton insisted he dress up, so I said he had mismatched accessories.
Wednesday - Pet Parade Day.
Peyton and Logan showed off their stuffed animals.
And Corbyn showed off his pet toddler. 😂
Thursday - Grown Up Day.
Logan wore Corbyn's baptism suit.
And Peyton wore my sweatshirt and shoes.
Friday - Wildcat Spirit Day.
I made a Crumbl copycat Raspberry Cheesecake Cookie for FHE.
Except I used blackberry jam, so it was a Blackberry Cheesecake Cookie.
I finished this Thomas Kinkade Cinderella puzzle.
It was a fun one because it had so many hidden characters from other Disney films. Snow White in the window.
Peter Pan and Tinkerbell on the rooftop.
Pinocchio
Rog made me Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes for my birthday breakfast (over a week after my birthday). He had them ready for me when I got home from a 7 mile run.
We celebrated Pi Day with Skillet Chicken Pot Pie for dinner.
And Cookies and Cream Pie for dessert.
I got new running shoes for my birthday.
The first time I wore them I set a new Course Record on Strava.
Baptisms for the Dead resumed at the Portland Temple!
Logan watched Raya and the Lost Dragon at least once a day for about 2 weeks.
We had a FHE lesson about the Armor of God.
The leprechaun left us green milk and Lucky Charms for our St. Patrick's Day breakfast.
Annual St. Patrick's Day picture.
Easton got hurt right before I started trying to take pictures and refused to be photographed with the other kids.
We had breakfast for dinner on St. Patrick's Day which has become our tradition. A green smoothie and rainbow fruit kabobs are festive without being a lot of work and that's nice because I'm always busy getting ready for Logan's birthday the next day.
Grandpa Mike came into town to help Rog install our second oven this week. It would have taken much longer without him and Rog for sure could not have done the electrical on his own. And when he was calling around he couldn't get any electricians to agree to do it (they're all too busy right now), so Mike was very essential to getting the project done in a timely manner.
He got in Monday night and left Thursday morning, so it was a quick trip. They worked nonstop while he was here and got all the electrical work done and the cabinets/oven installed. I left Wednesday afternoon to take Peyton to dance and run a couple quick errands and came back to a hole in the kitchen!
When he left there was still some finish work to be done, but I had two full working ovens in my kitchen! Such a blessing!
Logan requested cinnamon rolls for his birthday breakfast.
I didn't break in my running shoes before wearing them on a long run and paid for it with a bloody heal.
But I got a CR, so I was pleased with my run.
Peyton had a competition and got to perform on stage for the first time in over a year. The format was different than competitions before COVID, but I think everyone agreed it was better! They did one studio at a time and did all of the studio's dances in a couple hours.
Acro - The Drift
Jazz - Amazing Mayzie
Contemporary - Fireflies
We went to Jamba to celebrate after.
Our studio got the spirit award!
Rog got the cabinets finished and we decided to frame it in.
We flew to Utah for Spring Break. First flight in over a year!
Tell me you flew with a toddler without telling me you flew with a toddler. So many crumbs!
The Salt Lake City airport recently finished a huge upgrade/extension and we felt like we were walking miles to get to baggage claim. Cutest little traveler!
We had family pictures taken by the same photographers who did our wedding the morning after we got there. It was freezing, but they turned out great.
We celebrated Logan's birthday with an ice cream party with both grandparents there! So nice that they live in the same state again! This was a magic toy he got that fizzed in water to reveal what was inside.
We had agreed to go down to St. George to pick up Rog's grandpa for McKae's wedding and we had planned to stop at Bryce Canyon National Park on the way down, but it was supposed to be snowing there, so we skipped Bryce and just did a little exploring of the red rocks in St. George when we got there.
We decided to recreate a picture from years ago.
This day the weather was a little nicer. 😂
We picked up dinner at Zupas and took it to Rog's grandpa's house to eat. (I got the Mangoberry salad and I've been dreaming about it ever since!) Unfortunately none of us slept very well that night. It was hotter than we keep our house at night, there were a bunch of clocks chiming all night long, the kids didn't have beds, Easton ended up in our bed, and his sippy cup of water spilled all over... Almost everyone was up by 4 am or something ridiculous like that.
Easton was asleep before we got to the freeway on the way back up North.
But we accomplished what we had gone there to do (pick up Great Grandpa Phillips) and Rog enjoyed talking to him on the drive up.
We dropped him off at his hotel and then got Costa Vida for dinner. We were all tired, so we watched Ants and put everyone to bed.
I got up and ran 9 miles on the Provo River Trail. That was probably the highlight of the trip for me!
Rog, my dad, and the kids met me at the park I was finishing at and we went to Kneaders for breakfast. We waited a long time, but that french toast is always worth it!
I fit in a quick visit to Wood Connection.
Then it was time for McKae's wedding!
So happy McKae is getting another chance at a happily ever after!
That night I realized we were all wearing blue shirts and gray pants for bed!
We watched our ward's sacrament meeting on Zoom.
We got to spend some time with Jared and Cailey and their girls and Cailey made a cake to reveal they are having a(nother) girl in late August or early September.
We enjoyed a nice Sunday walk around my parents' neighborhood.
My mom hid some eggs for the kids downstairs and we had our first (of many) egg hunts for the year.
And then it was time to head home!
March 26th the kids got to go back to school in person for 2 days a week (3 hours a day).
Logan's first time getting on the bus!
Easton was devastated when he couldn't go with them!
Ms. H-C sent this picture of Peyton. Their classes were split into 2 cohorts and they had to be spaced out.
We took a trip down to the waterfront to see the cherry blossoms. They were beautiful, but it was depressing to see how bad things are in downtown Portland. There was trash, graffiti, and homeless people everywhere. 😢
I ran 100 km in March and completed another running challenge on Strava.
And that was our March!
