2 Months

After pretty much forgetting about Peyton's 2 month birthday on Tuesday, we had her 2 month well child visit on Wednesday. She had her shots which didn't really seem to phase her at all. What a trooper!

Her stats:

Weight: 12 pounds, 4 ounces (80th percentile)
Height: 23 inches (40th percentile)

Peyton at 2 months:

*Makes very cute cooing noises.
*Has the best smile.
*Sleeps great at night. We just put her down unswaddled and she goes right to sleep. She does one solid 6 hour stretch and then wakes up about every 3 hours after that. Naps aren't as consistent yet, but we're working on them. She does better when she's swaddled for her naps, but I really want to break her of that because I don't want her to be reliant on being swaddled.
*Follows us as we move around the room.
*Loves when we stand her up.
*Is pretty close to being able to sit in her Bumbo chair.
*Goes a long time between poos. Usually it's 2-3 days, but once she went 5!
*Had her first mini cold thanks to her brother.
*Moves a lot during tummy time. She practically crawls and usually ends up off the blanket!
*Is doing much better at staying awake while eating. And she's a pretty fast eater - each feeding only takes about 10 minutes.
*Sucks her thumb and hand on occassion.

Oh how we love this little girl!

Stay-cation

After Corbyn's birthday party and Father's Day, my parents stayed up for the week to attend the Utah Valley Parade of Homes. They are planning on moving up here when my dad retires in a year. They know they want to live in Utah Valley because Jared will be back at BYU and we will (most likely) stay where we are while Rog does his MBA/MHA, but they aren't exactly sure where in Utah Valley. So they used the Parade of Homes to scope out different possibilities.

In between their looking at houses, they did a lot of fun stuff with us. It was our stay-cation because we acted like we were on vacation, but we were home.

On Tuesday we went to the Hogle Zoo. It was Corbyn's first visit to a zoo (and of course Peyton's too). We had perfect zoo weather. It was sunny, clear, and beautiful, but only in the 70's.

Corbyn enjoyed seeing all the animals and making animal noises. He also liked playing in the play area and riding the train. And he did a great job posing by the gorilla sign!

On Wednesday we took Corbyn's 2 year pictures (and while we were at it, a few of Peyton) at Fotogenix. That wasn't a lot of fun as the 2 year old didn't exactly want to be photographed, but I'm glad we did it (and even more glad my mom was there to help). I'll post those pictures as soon as I get them back.

Wednesday evening Rog and I took a running technique class at the Runner's Corner while my parents watched Corbyn and Peyton at the mall or rather the Disney Store in the mall.

On Thursday we went to Seven Peaks.Corbyn and I went down the Tube Run about a thousand times.

While Peyton hung out and looked cute in her swim suit.

Thursday evening my parents took Corbyn to Rog's softball game while Peyton and I went to my dinner group for the month.

On Friday we said goodbye to my parents, but the fun didn't end there. Friday night we had Rog's work party at the Spanish Fork Water Park. We had never been there, so it was fun to check it out.

It was a fun week which made this week kind of a bummer in comparison, but that's how life goes!

Five on Friday

1. I have finally gotten into bow making (or rather, headband making). I made this one to go with Peyton's patriotic outfits and I loved it so much, I made a few more like it to go with other outifts she has.

2. On Monday I made these cupcakes for my visiting teacher Megan's son's birthday. I had been trying to think of something I could do to thank her for watching Corbyn for me and I remembered that she had  mentioned that she hates decorating cakes for her kid's birthdays. These were fun and easy to put together.

3. On Tuesday I realized at 9:00 pm that it was Peyton's 2 month birthday. Even worse, it took me until the middle of the night (when I was up feeding her) to realize that I was supposed to have taken her 2 month pictures. Things have been a little crazy around here lately.

4. It's been way too hot for my liking (with no end in sight) and thanks to all the wildfires, the air has been totally gross. So we played with the water table in the garage. Corbyn's favorite part was filling it up with our new hose attachment.

5. We combined our temple trip and date night for the month by doing sealings and then getting Cold Stone on the way home tonight. Many thanks to KD and Phat Tony for watching our kids for us!

2 Years

It's hard to believe our little Corbyn is already 2, but at the same time I can't even really remember what life was like before we had him, so 2 years doesn't seem long enough!

We had his 2 year visit today (at the same time Peyton had her 2 month visit). His stats:

Weight: 27 pounds (40th percentile)
Height: 35 inches (75th percentile)

The Corb at 2 years:

*Finally decided it was time to learn to talk. He is constantly saying things he's never said before and he will often repeat words we say. Some of his more frequent new words include:

Jesus
Nose, eye, hair, head (and other body parts we ask him to point out)
Cho cho
More
Peyton
Please
Hit
Nemo (from Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo, but he uses it for any fish and also Goldfish crackers)
Kitty
Up, down
Bow
Blue

*He's also starting to put more words together. He says, "baby down" when he wants me to put Peyton down and pay attention to him!

*Meows like a kitty, barks like a dog.

*Likes to play Ring Around the Rosie - usually when we're trying to put him down for a nap or bed.

*Likes to read books under a blanket like we're in a tent.

Here are some random pictures from the last month.

Me and my little guy (before I got ready for the day).

Playing in Peyton's swing. (Good thing it says it's good for up to 30 pounds and he's only 27 pounds.)

Playing with water in the garage.

Playing with toys at daddy's softball game.

We sure love our Corbyn!

Father's Day

Father's Day was Corbyn's actual birthday. Because Rog made my Mother's Day so great, I really didn't want to skip the Father's Day part of the day. And since Corbyn is too young to understand what a birthday is, it wasn't really a problem. (In 2018 when he is turning 8 it might be more of an issue.)

I wanted to make cinnamon rolls for breakfast because those are Rog's favorite, but after throwing Corbyn's party the night before, I just didn't have it in me. So I made Monkey Bread instead.

For dinner we went up to my Grandma Ford's house. My parents were there and my Grandpa and Grandma Ririe joined us as well. We had a nice dinner of roast, mashed potatoes, carrots, salad, fruit, and rolls.

I made Butterfinger Nutter Butter Cheesecake Bars for dessert. (Everyone said they were great, but I was a little disappointed. I thought the chocolate on top was too overpowering.) We put candles on Corbyn's piece and sang happy birthday to him. He's actually really good at blowing candles out. (We've been practicing when there is a birthday cake in one of his books.)

We made Rog this tree with Corbyn and Peyton's handprints for the leaves to hang in his office at work and an m&m bowtie.

After dinner we got to see our friends Rob and Anna Paulsen who were in Utah visiting family. It was great to see them even if it was just for a few minutes!

I think it was a good Father's Day for Rog and birthday for our Corb!

Friday Letters

Dear Readers,

We've been having a lot of fun this last week. Corbyn's birthday, Father's Day, seeing old friends, the zoo, 2 year pictures, a running technique class, Seven Peaks, dinner group, softball games, the KLAS summer party... Look forward to lots of blogs coming soon.

Love,
A blogger who has lots to blog about

Dear Running Shoes,

Boy have I missed you! It is so nice to pound that pavement and be sore again. We'll be seeing lots of each other as I work back up to a 5K (possibly by the 4th of July) and get back into shape!

Love,
A returning runner

Dear Mom and Dad,

Thanks for doing fun things with us this week. It's going to be hard going back to reality next week when you're home in St. George.

Love,
Your daughter and her kids

Dear Corbyn,

This last week you turned 2 and that meant you were finally old enough to sit facing forward in your car seat. You are getting so big and grown up. I love you!

Love,
Your mom

Dear Peyton,

You are starting to smile more and more and I love it! If we could bottle up your smile, I'm pretty sure it could cure cancer. I love you and your beautiful smile!

Love,
Your mom

Dear Rog,

Sorry you had to work and miss out on most of the fun things we did this week. Thanks for working so hard, so I can stay home with our cute kids. They are pretty cute, aren't they?! I love you!

Love,
Your wife

Corbyn's Party

We had Corbyn's birthday party on Saturday - the day before his birthday.

The invitation. I downloaded some free Toy Story images which made making it easy peasy.

Rog took Corbyn outside while I set everything up. When he came back in, he was in Toy Story heaven.

For dinner we had pizza from "Pizza Planet."

Corbyn and Elise shared a table. {We're so glad Emily and Elise are in Utah for part of the summer, so they could come to the party!}

I made a chocolate kit kat cake with Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye figurines on top.

And Little Green Men and Hamm cupcakes.

We invited the neighborhood kids to come sing happy birthday and have a cupcake. Here is my amazing visiting teacher Megan and her cute kids. After all the times they watched Corbyn, they became pretty good friends!

Corbyn got a lot of fun gifts - most of them Toy Story, but not all.

This water table from Corbyn's Great Grandma Ford has already gotten a lot of use.

Rog was pretty excited about this golf set, so the party moved outside while they tried it out.

But I'm pretty sure these two fun Toy Story toys from his Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Ririe were his favorite gifts of them all.

Thanks to everyone who came to help us celebrate Corbyn's 2nd birthday!

Five on Friday

1. I'm loving dressing Peyton for church! This is my favorite dress of the many I have to choose from. Isn't she the cutest?!

2. On Tuesday I had my 6 week follow up appointment and was pronounced healed. I survived another pregnancy! It's time to put on my running shoes and start pounding the pavement again.

3. This week I replaced my old brown Reef flip flops with another pair of brown Reef flip flops. I had them for 6 years and they were definitely well worn! I loved them and I knew I wouldn't be able to find anything better, so I didn't try. Breaking in the new ones while watching a little Gilmore Girls (while both my kiddos are asleep).

4. Corbyn learned a new word this week....

Peyton! I think it's my favorite word he says.

5. Meg had a birthday last night. Sadly I didn't realize it until today. I missed the 99,999 and 100,000 picture, but this one is almost as cool.
