Five on Friday

1. On Sunday I made the most delicious orange cream cupcakes. I tried one when they were still kind of warm and thought they were just ok, but then I let them cool and had another. Oh my gosh, AMAZING!

2. Corbyn learned how to say, "I'm hungry" this week. It is helpful (when he's actually hungry), but he tries to use it as an excuse to stay up longer when we are putting him to bed. And so it begins!

3. It's been a little cooler in the mornings, so I've started taking the double running stroller out for runs with both kids. Talk about a total body workout!

4. I finished and ordered our 2011 blog book from blurb.com this week. I had to order by midnight Tuesday night, so I could get 20% off. I barely made it - I clicked "Checkout" at 11:58! It felt so good to finally be able to take that off my to do list. And now I can't wait for it to get here!

5. We were supposed to go to on a date to float the Provo River this afternoon, but we were rained out. I was pretty disappointed, but a flower from my husband, Papa Johns for dinner (with buy one get one free breadsticks because the cougars won yesterday), and We Bought a Zoo (yes, again) from Redbox saved the night.

Farewell Summer

Summer is coming to an end and to be quite honest, I'm not really sad about it. It has been so beyond hot this summer. I'm ready for some cooler weather.

Last Saturday we went to Seven Peaks for the last time this summer. We had to register Daisy and do a few errands before we went, so we got there a little later than normal.

We played hard and Corbyn fell asleep on the way home.

That afternoon we had our neighborhood block party put on by our ward. The food wasn't very good and there wasn't enough of it - obviously men were in charge of planning that part - but Corbyn had fun playing and we had fun talking to our neighbors. Peyton took a little nap on the blanket while we chatted.

And Corbyn insisted on pushing Peyton home in the stroller.

Farewell summer - see you next year!

4 Months

Remember how Corbyn was 10 pounds when he was born? And how he was 16 pounds, 4 ounces at 4 months? Well, look who's caught up to her brother!

Her 4 month stats:

Weight: 16 lbs, 3 oz (90th percentile)
Height: 24 3/4 inches (75th percentile)

She is our healthy little chunk!

PJ at 4 months:

*Loves to watch her brother.
*Loves jumping in her jumper.
*Can get distracted when she's eating.
*Doesn't despise tummy time as much as her brother did, but she doesn't like it much either.
*Has rolled a few times, but doesn't do it on a regular basis yet.
*Likes to blow spit bubbles.
*Watches toys as we move them in front of her from one ear to the other.
*Sucks on everything she can get her mouth on.
*Discovered her feet and just started sucking on her toes.
*Does great baby push-ups when she's on her tummy.
*Is still rocking the 40 minute naps, but I can't complain because she's such a great sleeper at night.
*Is starting to laugh more.

Five on Friday

1. Because Corbyn always has a cold (gotta love nursery), we decided we should try to do something about it. After an epic fail with regular kid multivitamins, we got him the gummy kind with extra Vitamin C. Here's to hoping they help!

2. I narrowly escaped being eaten alive by a huge Husky dog on my run the other night. I'm pretty sure the owner heard me screaming like a little girl and called the ravenous animal back. Huskies were becoming my favorite dogs thanks to many positive experiences with Kenzie and Irving's Huskies, but I'm not so sure now.

3. I finished 11/22/63 on Wednesday night. 853 pages in less than 3 weeks - that's got to be some kind of a personal record for me! I absolutely loved it. Read it, you won't be sorry!

4. Yesterday I hosted dinner group at our house. I grilled pizza on the BBQ. I was so stressed about it all day long because Rog was going to be at his softball game while I had to be cooking it - not to mention taking care of both kids at the same time. Mariah came over a little early to help and it turned out great.

5. Today I discovered that there is a Lost Cities app. Within minutes Zack and I were playing a game. We used to play all the time when we both lived in Provo. Now we can play whenever we want even though he is halfway across the country in Wisconsin. Gotta love technology!

St. George in the Sun

Because my parents are moving next year, we decided to go down to St. George for one last weekend with the pool. (We'll go down again before they move, but not while the pool is open.)

The weather was much more typical of St. George this trip (hot, hot, hot!), so we got to enjoy lots of pool time.

We also:

*Went to the temple.

*Got to spend some time with KD and Grandma Dixie because they were down in St. George too. It was KD's birthday, so we celebrated Texas Roadhouse style.

*Played a game of Phase 10 that we almost finished.

*Went to Kneaders for some all-you-can-eat french toast. YUM!

*Played at the splash pad.

Corbyn had a blast.

As did Peyton! (Check out those chunky legs!)

*Had a pizza party.

Unfortunately Corbyn's typical cold turned really bad Saturday night. He was up all night long with labored breathing and an awful cough. Rog was a champ and took care of him, so I could sleep and take care of Peyton (who was by far the easier child that night).

{Sunday morning, finally getting some sleep.}

It was a fun trip even with Corbyn getting sick at the end! (He is doing much better now.)

Six on Saturday

1. I got my ring cleaned and re-plated this week. I hadn't had it done since our 2 year anniversary, so it definitely needed it. It looks amazing!

2. I found this Toy Story tent on Amazon for only $14.49. It was an instant hit and will hopefully provide hours of entertainment.

{This side doesn't have Toy Story on it, but the other sides do.}

3. Rog had lunch provided at work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week! Corby and I were just a little jealous as we ate PB&J sandwiches, Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets, and leftovers for our lunches.

4. Peyton discovered her feet this week. She also rolled over for the first time. It was a busy week for one so small!

5. I'm now 76% done with 11/22/63 and going stong. I expect to finish in the next week.

6. I painted these flip flops for my mom's birthday present. Love how they turned out!

Sometimes

Sometimes you make it to the end of the weekend and realize you didn't take a single picture. Not a single one. So even though you did some fun things (splash pad, Seven Peaks, dinner with Grandma Ford and Tracy) a blog without pictures just seems ridiculous.

Sometimes errands can be very relaxing and fun - when they are done without kids.

Sometimes little boys are silly. Toy Story smoothie anyone?

Sometimes monkies taste really good.

Sometimes you miss Happy Hour at Sonic by less than 2 minutes, but you still end up getting a drink.

Sometimes you realize your life isn't perfect, but it is really really good and you wouldn't trade it for anything.

One Day Early

I posted my sleeping pictures a day early because last night and this morning I got some even better ones.

Corbyn sleeping with his animal friends - not just by them.

Last night Peyton slept for 11 hours straight. She's a rockstar! Corbyn didn't do a stretch that long until he was almost 11 months old. When I went to check on her this morning, this is what I found. Apparently she can scoot herself backwards because she started out in the middle of her crib. I guess it's time to take her animals out of her crib!

Love me a sleeping baby (and toddler)!

Sleeping Kiddos

Every night before we go to bed, we sneak into our kiddos rooms to check on them.

Peyton always sleeps sprawled out like this. Oh Peyton, you are getting so big!

Recently Corbyn has insisted on sleeping with all of his animals. Oh Corbyn, you crack us up!

There's nothing sweeter than a pair of sleeping kiddos.

Five on Friday

1. On Sunday I gave Rog his first official bald guy haircut - meaning I cut it with a 1 all over. It's pretty short and it took us both a few days to get used to it, but it was time. I still think he's pretty dang good looking and that's all that matters.

{Insert picture of Rog with short hair here. I took one last night, but it was late and in bad lighting. So you'll just have to be in suspense for a few days until I get a better one.}

2. On Tuesday we went up to Sandy to have a barbecue with Zack, Emily, and Elise. The adults had fun catching up, Corbyn and Elise had fun playing together (for the most part), and Peyton won her way into her Uncle Zack and Aunt Emily's hearts.

3. Yesterday I saw on Facebook that Jimmy Johns was having $1 subs from 11-3. Instead of going around the corner to our Jimmy Johns in Spanish Fork, we drove to the Provo location and met Rog for lunch. After waiting in a long line to get our subs, we took them to KLAS and ate in Rog's office. Corbyn's favorite part of the outing was playing with all the balls Rog has in his office.

4. Last night we didn't have anything going on, so we decided to go get a snow cone. We took a cup for Corbyn and shared some of our large snow cone with him. After a few bites, Rog accidentally knocked the whole thing over spilling it on my shorts, legs, and flip flops. Awesome, right?

5. After only a week of reading, I am already 41% done with 11/22/63. (I'm reading it on the Kindle, so that's how I know the exact percentage.) I'm loving it! Although I've been doing most of my reading after the Olympics, so I've been staying up WAY TOO LATE!

Sewing and Seven Peaks

We had kind of a chill weekend.

On Friday afternoon I got the urge to sew something, so I decided to sew a crinkle taggy toy. I sewed one for Peyton and then while I was at it, I sewed one for Kiera's baby shower that I was going to on Saturday. I just used materials I had on hand and sewed in wrappers to make them crinkly.

Peyton loves hers! We'll have to wait a few months to see how Brady and Kiera's baby boy feels about his. As far as I know, he hasn't been born yet, but it should be any day!

On Saturday Peyton and I went up to Salt Lake for Kiera's baby shower while Rog and Corbyn hung out at home. When we got home we had dinner (that Rog made) and then headed to Seven Peaks with KD and Phat Tony for the evening.

On the way home, Rog rolled down his window and had his arm out. Corbyn wanted his window down too, so he could be just like his daddy. {Love this picture of him! We never get him smiling and looking at the camera anymore it seems!} Now of course he wants it down every time we are in the car.

There was lots of Olympic watching going on as well. And that was our weekend!

Five on Friday

1. I got out the Jumperoo for Peyton this week. She loves it - even if it does put her to sleep at times! Jumping is hard work for a 3 month old!

2. Last Saturday I finished my 3rd book of the year - The Glass Castle. (The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks was my 1st and I reread The Hunger Games for my 2nd.) I did like it, but it took me a long time to finish because even though I enjoyed it while I was reading it, I didn't feel the need to stay up late at night reading it or use my precious nap time to read it.

3. For my 4th book, I just started reading 11/22/63. I was a little nervous to pick that as my book because it is so long, but I don't think I'll have any trouble finishing it. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it and I have been using every spare second to read it.

4. Last night I found Rog's wedding ring! We had just about given up hope and were thinking of buying him a replacement on Amazon - so glad we didn't!

5. The Olympics have officially taken over our lives. We haven't had anything else going on, so every night we turn them on and stay up way too late watching. Unfortunately because of the time difference, we've had most of the results spoiled before we watch. We've still had lots to cheer for with the Women's Gymnastics team winning the gold, Michael Phelps becoming the most decorated Olympic athlete, and Gabby Douglas winning the All Around!
